Job Description:
Cisco Systems, the world’s leading provider of network hardware and software,
is currently seeking an experienced Customs and Trade professional to work in
its Americas (United States, Canada and Latin America) Emerging Global Tax and
Customs (“GTC”) team. Based in Sao Paulo, Brazil the Brazil Customs Manager will
be responsible for all customs and trade related activities in Brazil. The
candidate will be the focal point for all Cisco business flows into Brazil and
will be the primary contact and subject matter expert for internal and external
partners.
As the primary local GTC Team member in Brazil, we are seeking a candidate
with excellent collaboration skills who will work to establish a local Customs
and Trade presence in the country. The candidate must possess the ability to
liaise with the various local Cisco team members as well as serve as the primary
contact with local
government officials. This Customs Manager will report to the Latin America
Customs Manager of Cisco’s GTC Team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive customs and trade related process for Brazil;
- Support Compliance Policies and Processes in key customs and trade areas
such as: Classification, Country of Origin, Valuation and Recordkeeping;
- Manage relationships with local Customs officials;
- Demonstrated skills and experiences in all areas of Customs compliance -
including classification, valuation, country of origin, recordkeeping,
Mercosur, etc.;
- Demonstrated experiences working with and managing multiple Customs
brokers and fundamental understanding of supply chain/logistics;
- Staying abreast of current customs developments and effectively applying
such knowledge to fulfill Cisco’s GTC corporate customs compliance mission;
- Ability to thoroughly and accurately analyze information/data (including
those requiring the use of Excel, Access, etc.);
- Participate on global project teams to support process developments and
improvements, including those involving Government Affairs
- Implement comprehensive business management tools to ensure best use of
resources;
- Proactively identify value-add opportunities to improve efficiencies,
minimize compliance risks and reduce costs;
- Training/liaising with departments/personnel that directly/indirectly
impact export and import compliance;
- Develop a self-audit program, conduct periodic self assessments, and
implement any necessary remedial measures;
- Document compliance procedures and operating manuals;
- Develop and implement compliance processes with third party vendors
(e.g., Customs brokers, partners, vendors);
- Establish relationships with global cross-functional partners;
- Provide business support for customs and trade related operational
issues in Brazil;
- Serve in a consulting role in company projects and manage implementation
related to customs processes
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years experience in import and trade regulatory compliance
or consulting;
- Prior customs compliance experience
- Prior consulting experience highly desired
- Licensed Customs broker preferred
- Ability to work cross functionally and collaboratively in a fast paced,
changing environment;
- Self motivator;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Proven ability to negotiate and influence at all levels;
- Team player with strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Fluent in Portuguese and English;
- Experience in technology-related business;
- Able to display a broad cross section of Customs and trade experience;
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; and
- At all times operate with integrity and build trust with both internal
and external partners .
Education:
- BA/BS in international business, related area or equivalent business or
trade consulting experience required; MBA or Masters degree preferred.
