FTZ Trade Compliance Manager

Trade Compliance

The FTZ/Trade Compliance Manager has broad responsibility to ensure the company is meeting reporting obligations with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Commerce, United States Trade Representative, and other government agencies which have trade compliance jurisdiction regarding the company’s merchandise. Additionally, the manager will assist with identifying and implementing lawful duty mitigation and tariff relief strategies, supporting supply chain & procurement initiatives, and supply executive management with key trade data statistics to assist with making informed business decisions. The manager must be well organized, energetic, forward thinking, and exhibit a positive attitude. Trade compliance will encompass the company’s imports, exports, as well as manufacturing activity under US Foreign-Trade Zone (“FTZ”) procedures. Professional written and oral communication skills are essential.

Principle Duties Include:

  • Manage the company’s FTZ operations to ensure timely and accurate reporting to U.S. Customs
  • Gain detailed understanding of key WMS / ERP systems
  • Review /update internal and external work instructions for key supply chain partners
  • Review and provide duty mitigation / tariff relief strategies for consideration
  • Participate in supply chain planning and procurement decisions
  • Manage freight forwarder and broker engagement relationships
  • Develop, track, and report key performance indicators
  • Develop internal compliance auditing program
  • Provide FTZ and Trade Compliance Training
  • Ensure customs duty, brokerage costs, processing fees, etc. are fully minimized and controlled within the functional area of responsibility
  • Spearhead company-wide trade compliance initiatives
  • Assist in management and communication with government authorities
  • Manage department budgets and be involved in providing financial projections and targets
  • Ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements
  • Stay abreast of key regulatory changes that impact supply chain or business operations
  • Maintain trade data content within key systems e.g. AD/CVD, MID, HTS, CoO, PGA data, etc.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree of specialty (Trade / Logistics /Business Management)
  • Strong project management and computer skills, with a focus on Microsoft Office programs
  • Customs Brokers License preferred
  • Extensive experience in trade compliance and/or international logistics/operations
  • Strong financial analysis background
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize tasks according to business needs
