Vice President of Global Trade Management and Compliance
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Management, the Vice
President of Global Trade Management and Compliance will provide global
leadership for this critical area and set the strategy for Eaton’s Enterprise
Trade Management and Compliance initiatives. As the principle Global Trade
Management professional and point of contact internally and externally for the
corporation, this individual will be responsible for the development,
management, and implementation of Eaton’s worldwide trade compliance strategy,
programs, and related projects. Our goal is to create best-in-class performance
for global trade management which will require this individual to establish key
performance indicators as well as build a global team to ensure compliance with
export control and import laws in over 150 countries where Eaton does business.
With Eaton’s continued global growth in developing economies and the increasing
complexities in foreign trade it is critical to the success of our company to
establish this centralized trade management office.
Additional duties Include:
- Provide leadership for global trade management & compliance and to
establish enterprise wide strategic initiatives and objectives
- Building and leading a corporate wide team to conduct business
continuity assessments that will allow Eaton to successfully identify and
mitigate risks associated with global trade
- Continuously monitor government and industry developments (e.g.
security, customs compliance, Harmonized Tariff Schedule changes, etc.) and
maintain current information on all import and export regulations
- Manage the global trade management organization in order to develop,
deploy, and implement strategies that protect Eaton’s right to operate
- Build a holistic 5 year strategy which incorporates partnership with
corporate, group, and divisional operations to support trade facilitation
and compliance strategies
- Develop training programs around trade management to educate our
internal staff on policy changes and new directives regarding their
responsibility towards trade compliance
- Effectively communicate corporate and departmental vision to supply
chain and logistics staff and core provider/partners to secure their support
and alignment with the vision.
- Develop the technological infrastructure within the Global Trade
Compliance department by implementing and leveraging new technologies
- Function as the corporate liaison to US Customs and Border Protection,
Bureau of Industry and Security and other government agencies as they relate
to customs and global trade issues
This position requires a trade management subject matter expert with a
minimum of ten (10) years of experience directing trade management programs,
policies, and best practices within a multi-billion dollar company that conducts
business around the globe.
Specialized knowledge needed includes:
- Direct responsibility for the management of a global trade compliance
program and employees for a multi-billion dollar company
- Experience managing tax and supply chain risks, contain costs and
strategically drive value within a heightened regulatory climate involving a
complex product portfolio
- Knowledge of related laws and regulations such as the International
Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
sanction regulations, US Customs and Border Protection, and Foreign Corrupt
Practices Act (FCPA)
- Experience implementing an audit system for checks and balances
internally and externally and the ability to communicate compliance policy
to senior executives
- In depth working knowledge of Export Administration Regulation (EAR)
encrypting regulations and US Customs regulations
- Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Classification, NAFTA valuation and C-TPAT
is required
- Experience with commerce licensing and ECCN Classification
