Manager, Logistics & Compliance

Overview:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable import/export laws and regulations. Specific emphasis on classification, valuation, C-TPAT, NAFTA, country of origin markings, and the claiming of assists.
  • Identify and develop process improvements to the import/export operations within Fellowes.
  • Develop and maintain import operation procedures to enable growth in sales globally.
  • Set strategy for inbound logistics including number of carrier partners, risk mitigation plans (alternative routings), contractual reviews, updates and requirements for Fellowes global trade movements.
  • Manage and drive continuous improvement for global logistics capability including subsidiary activity and compliance to Fellowes global import/logistics contracts and commitments.
  • Create and maintain strategic partnerships with Fellowes global carrier partners to deliver competitive cost, service, and quality per our KPI programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Fellowes is compliant with all required US, Canada, Europe and Australia regulations governing import law and identify, develop, and conduct training to the organization on customs and compliance topics. Topics could include assists, supply chain security requirements, product classifications, etc.
  • Identify and develop process improvements to the import/export operations within Fellowes.
  • Act as the liaison between Supply Chain and Logistics for transportation optimization needs.
  • Negotiate contracts with import carriers - ocean, air and land.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to direct reports. Ensure performance objectives are set and managed to department and corporate standards and deadlines. Provide an atmosphere which cultivates team and personal growth.
  • Manage supply chain security programs, trade agreements and assists declaration and reporting.
  • Develop policies and procedures to meet the requirements of new customs initiatives and regulations.

Qualifications:

Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Master's degree preferred. Customs Broker License is required.

Experience - 5 to 7 years relevant work experience in global logistics, preferably customs and compliance.

Skills/Abilities -

  • Prior experience in a managerial role, specifically leading the Customs & Compliance function and team.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of customs laws and regulations
  • Understanding of Incoterms, the Customs Modernization Act (Mod Act), the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP,) the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT,) the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA,) and complete knowledge of the HS tariff.
  • Solid knowledge of global logistics/inbound transport including carriers, pricing, services, and performance needs
  • Strong PC skills, Oracle experience is a plus
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication as well as customer service
  • Able to solve problems and formulate decisions
  • Must be a team player and leader
  • Must posses P&L analytical tools
