Customs Compliance Analyst

General Position Description:

The Customs Compliance Analyst is responsible for educating and enforcing customs and trade compliance practices including C-TPAT across global supply chains by collaborating with internal teams, vendors, suppliers, and customers.

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Ensure and enforce customs compliance practices by internal teams and all parties for U.S. imports and exports
  • Handle daily operations with customs broker and other related parties tensure timely clearance of shipments and compliance with Brooks’ policies and requirements
  • Perform review of customs entries and testing of internal procedures tensure import compliance, integrity of internal controls, and reasonable care as required by federal regulations and ISA requirements
  • Handle and manage product reviews and duty classifications, including HTS for all products
  • Maintain a working knowledge and stay current of CBP’s and other government agencies’ regulations
  • Perform research on free trade agreements and other duty minimization opportunities, keeping key stakeholders informed
  • Manage and maintain records keeping of import and export documents in accordance tcustoms regulations and Brooks’ requirements, including the review and closing of entry files
  • Manage drawback program and required recordkeeping tensure regulatory compliance
  • Perform payment approvals for all USA shipments tensure accurate values are declared tU.S. Customs
  • Coordinate audits and inspections for C-TPAT with 3rd party auditors and monitor /manage vendor compliance results including the corrective action plans
  • Perform C-TPAT audits and inspections at logistics service providers and suppliers/factories, as needed
  • Perform relevant analysis and create and/or maintain bench-marking reports for performance measurables and quality management, including detailed compliance improvement plans
  • Assist in training suppliers and internal teams on Customs and C-TPAT compliance
  • Facilitate worldwide trade and customs compliance in all countries that Brooks does or has business with

Skills

Must have skills/experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in international trade, business or public administration, or related fields
  • Minimum 3-4 years experience in duty classification and customs compliance
  • Well-versed in classifying products (according tthe Harmonized Tariff of the U.S.), Customs Regulations, and International Trade Compliance
  • Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to function in a team environment and make positive contribution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel and Access

Preferred skills/experience:

  • Customs Brokerage License or studying for exam
  • International travel experience
  • Basic understanding of CPSIA and ISF requirements
  • A passion for the running and active lifestyle
