Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The National Instruments Global Trade Compliance Department has an immediate
opening for an Export Compliance Technology Analyst. The successful candidate
will act as the primary liaison between the Global Trade Compliance and
Engineering Departments, ensuring that NI remains in compliance with all import
and export regulations applicable to NI’s product development and production.
This position requires the ability to understand technical and regulatory
concepts as well as communicate those concepts to all employees in the
Engineering Department from the entry-level engineers to Directors. Experience
in the trade compliance field is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with NI personnel in Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing,
Sales, Legal and other departments as necessary to ensure proper
classification of NI products per applicable import and export
classification schemes
- Manage Global Trade Compliance involvement in the product development
process
- Responsible for the creation and submission of product classification
documents to the relevant government agencies in any country around the
world where NI does business
- Serve as main interface with government authorities around the world
with regard to the classification of NI products per the applicable import
and export regimes
- Manage NI’s compliance program concerning access to ‘controlled
technology’
- Conduct training on trade compliance topics for Engineering, Marketing,
Manufacturing, Sales and other departments as necessary
- Review Non-Disclosure Agreements for acceptability of export
compliance-related verbiage and possible deemed export issues
- Serve as Global Trade Compliance liaison to NI’s Alliance Partners
regarding export compliance topics
Position Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications of highly
technical items such as field-programmable gate arrays and other integrated
circuits without assistance
- Four-year college degree, preferably in an Engineering-related
discipline
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Able to detect gaps and implement the needed solutions
- Proven ability to make sound decisions
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
- Has the initiative to undertake additional responsibilities
- Experience classifying items under the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule
and Export Administration Regulations is preferred
- Experience with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export
Administration Regulations is preferred
- Multiple years of experience in a high-tech or electronics manufacturing
company is preferred
