Job Description:
Manage all aspects of a Customs compliance program, including the following:
- Develop, implement and maintain a Customs and Import Policy and
Procedure manual
- Oversee all aspects of Customs compliance requirements related to
international shipments, including commercial invoices, Customs entries,
valuation, Country of Origin, documentation related to free trade agreements
such as NAFTA , HTS classifications, including creating and maintaining an
accurate HTS database and product dictionaries and perform regular pre and
post entry audits
- Ensure interdepartmental training and cooperation on all matters related
to Customs compliance
- Act as the first point of contact for daily interactions with brokers
and forwarders, including all matters related to Power of Attorney
- Respond to inquiries regarding commercial invoice, HTS classification or
other related issues to ensure timely clearance through Customs
- Provide customer service and support to both internal and external
customers throughout the entire supply chain to resolve a full variety of
time sensitive import and Customs related issues
- Develop and provide training to all employees with responsibilities
related to the importing process
- Support the Trade Compliance Manager, as necessary, with tasks related
to the export compliance program, including with the EAR, ITAR, and OFAC,
and other duties as required
Required Experience:
- 5(+) years of corporate Customs Compliance experience is required
(manufacturing environment is preferred)
- Strong working knowledge and experience with US Customs Regulations
- Strong working knowledge of HTS classification and Customs clearance
procedures
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
Desired Experience:
- Strong project management experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred or similar ERP system to drive
solutions through automation
- Customs Broker license would be ideal
