Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the candidate manages the
import/export process and ensures compliance with U.S. and foreign government
laws and regulations. Oversees the completion of paperwork and monetary
transactions associated with international distribution in a timely manner. Will
negotiate with clients and handle all issues with customs officials, freight
forwarders and trucking companies. The manager will be responsible for control
over the company's total freight expenditure.
The candidate will also be responsible for the management and control of the
domestic freight and conformance to customer delivery dates. Key to this aspect
of the position is the Wal-mart Must Arrive by Date Program.
Skills
A bachelor's degree in area of specialty is preferable and at least 7 years
of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the
field's concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and
judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Organizational, planning, good geographical knowledge and
problem-solving skills are essential.
- Attentive to detail and be accurate in execution of any tasks.
- Experience in importing and exporting to/from China, Canada and Europe.
- Knowledge of international import/export shipping and documentation.
- Custom Broker's Liicense if preferred, but not required.
- Must be computer proficient.
