Role Summary/Purpose NBC Universal is looking for a Shipping and Export Control Manager who will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable U.S. export regulations, including, but not limited to, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and Export Administration Regulations (among other responsibilities).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a high level of general Customs compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. export regulations, including, but not limited to, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and

Export Administration Regulations.

  • Maintain effective communication with NBC’s brokers, forwarders and U.S Customs.
  • Act as primary point of contact for US Customs matters.
  • Support global Customs compliance activities for NBC News.
  • Oversee completion of all shipping manifests and freight traffic from NBC’s global warehouse in New York to ensure proper customs clearance.
  • Complete government required shipping documents including Carnets, TMP notifications, Lithium battery forms, etc.
  • Understand regulations for shipping to “Controlled” countries.
  • Work with all major airlines to develop good relationships to facilitate large “hand carry” shipments by our personnel.
  • Participate in the training of internal personnel on the legal requirements of importing and exporting.
  • Establish performance measures for brokers and monitor their compliance in meeting customer delivery timelines and Customs regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Interface with Customs authorities to resolve formal inquiries and random shipment inspections.
  • Review and authorize payment on all shipping related invoices.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Five years experience in a position responsible for US imports and exports.
  • Excellent ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and web based tools.
  • Bachelors' degree required.
